Sunset Park High School is a diverse and inclusive school that prepares all students for college and for meeting the challenging demands of a changing world.  SPHS is dedicated to growing future leaders and is committed to:

Success for all students

  • 3 small learning communities: Visual & Performing Arts, Business & Entrepreneurship, and Health & Human Services; all students enter the 12th Grade Academy in their fourth year
  • Personal attention to students and families
  • Advisory groups
  • Teams of teachers for each grade
  • Visual and performing arts classes for all students
  • Additional support in mathematics and literacy 
  • Physical wellness of students through sports and exercise

Partnership with the Community

Collaborations with the local and global community provide:

  • Enriched learning in the classroom
  • Internships in health, human services, business, and the arts
  • After school and summer programs 
  • Early college preparation through Brooklyn College Now, Early College Dual Credit (ECDC) and  AP courses (open access)
  • Academic, social, and emotional support

Our partners include: Center for Family Life--"Life Lines" Community Arts Project, ; NYU Lutheran HealthCare; Brooklyn College, New York University, CUNY Collaborative programs, Institute for Student Achievement, Wildlife Conservation Society, and Urban Bar Code
